This is the story of why I launched Poop Titans — a professional dog waste removal and yard sanitization service serving Lake County, IL — and what building something unconventional has taught me about entrepreneurship, community, and doing work that actually matters.

The Opportunity Nobody Talks About

Dog ownership in the U.S. is at an all-time high. More households have dogs today than at any point in history. But here’s what nobody in the pet services industry seems to want to say out loud:

There is a massive, underserved population of dog owners who physically cannot keep up with waste removal.

I’m not talking about people who are too busy or too lazy. I’m talking about:

These aren’t edge cases. This isn’t a niche. This is a real, underserved need hiding behind a job that makes people laugh at dinner parties — and that’s exactly what made me take it seriously.

When I started building Poop Titans, people close to me had a range of reactions. Some laughed. Some were intrigued. A few asked if I was serious.

I was completely serious.

The pet services industry is a multi-billion dollar market that’s still largely fragmented at the local level — especially in suburban areas like Lake County. There’s enormous opportunity here. But honestly, the opportunity wasn’t what got me out of bed to do this.

What got me was the impact.

When I show up to a client’s yard and leave it clean, sanitized, and smelling fresh — and the customer tells me they haven’t been able to use their backyard in weeks — that’s not a transaction. That’s giving someone their outdoor space back. That’s giving a parent the peace of mind that their kids can play outside safely. That’s real.

I launched Poop Titans with more ambition than budget. A branded Subaru Outback. A belief that showing up consistently and doing quality work was the entire strategy. And an immigrant’s mindset that hard work — even unglamorous hard work — is never something to be ashamed of.

I was born in Bosnia and came to the United States with my family in 1999. My parents chased the promise of something better. That same drive is in everything I build — whether it’s a Shopify brand doing nine figures, or a local dog waste service that one Lake County family relies on every single week.

Building something unconventional is never the path of least resistance. People will have opinions. Some will be skeptical. That’s fine. The families I serve every week don’t have opinions — they have clean yards.

The pet services industry is still largely fragmented at the local level. The opportunity is real. But more importantly — so is the impact. And this is just the beginning.
